Bio

Paula Currie is a Senior Vice President and the Field Exam Director for PNC Business Credit, where she is responsible for managing all aspects of the Field Examination Department for PNCBC and PNC Corporate Banking nationwide and the Operations Department for PNCBC.

Paula joined PNCBC in 1998 and has 20-plus years of experience in commercial finance and asset-based lending. She has held a number of positions within PNC including Field Examiner, Underwriter and Regional Underwriting Manager.  Paula is a two-time recipient of PNC’s Chairman’s Circle Award - in 2005 and again in 2010, for her work as an Underwriter and Regional Underwriting Manager, respectively.

Paula is integral to PNC Business Credit’s talent development program, working to ensure a constant stream of top talent with a solid foundation in asset based lending. She manages recruiting for PNC Business Credit’s Field Examination segment, the foundation level for the organization’s training program. Working with the PNC C&IB Development Program and Campus Recruiting, Currie recruits and develops top talent from the nation’s best colleges and universities. Each year, she leads the process to recruit, on average, a diverse group of 8 interns and 10-14 new hires. Associates are provided a rigorous 12 months of training focusing on the finer points of credit analysis, the basics of asset based lending, and the discipline of field examination. Over the last two years, Currie and her team worked on the design and development of an advanced credit training program for experienced hires. The curriculum is oriented toward field examiners, the talent pool for the underwriting and relationship management functions, and designed to provide the necessary skills for career mobility.

Given the depth and breadth of her experience recruiting top talent for PNC Business Credit, Currie has served as a member of the PNC Talent Management Council and the Continuing Education Subcommittee. Currie was nominated for and participated in PNC’s Dynamic Leadership Program, the Executive Women’s Development Program, and PNC’s Mentoring for Leadership Program. Currently a member of the PNC Employee Business Resource Group - Women Connect and a business segment liaison for PNC ForWARD - For Women’s Advancement, Recognition & Development (formerly Building the Diverse Pipeline), she works within PNC Business Credit to ensure diverse and widespread participation and engagement in PNC ForWARD, advocating for early career women who may represent retention risks and those on the fast track to bigger opportunities. Currie is also part of the PNC ForWARD mentor/mentee program.

Currie received her B.S. from St. Joseph’s University and completed post graduate work at the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth University. She is a member of the National Association of Credit Management, the Commercial Finance Association (CFA) and the CFA’s Women in Commercial Finance (WICF) committee, and the Turnaround Management Association and its Network of Women (NOW) committee.   As a member of the CFA, Paula has served on the 40 Under 40 Awards’ Event Planning committee in 2017 and Leadership Council in 2018 and the WICF Events/Strategic Planning subcommittees in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Paula volunteers her time to various charities and organizations. She was instrumental in coordinating PNC Grow Up Great service projects in Philadelphia; East Brunswick, NJ; Pittsburgh; Pasadena; Dallas and Atlanta, representing over 500 hours of service and raising $15,000 in grant money for the community programs. While residing in Harford County, MD, Currie served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court and other settings. She also volunteers at The Pet Adoption and Lifecare Society (PALS) in Devon, PA, a full service animal help organization dedicated to the well-being of all animals.
